Advice on secondary schools in Rugby

Hello
We live in Rugby, Warwickshire and are currently considering which secondary school to send our son to. Any insights would be really appreciated.

DS has taken his 11+ and we think he might do well enough to go to Lawrence Sheriff School however we are not sure if this is the right place for him. He is a lovely, friendly boy; hard working but reserved, not very sporty and more enjoys things like Minecraft, drawing and discussing Pokémon. He would not cope well with bullying. The other two schools we are considering are Rugby Free and Harris. We did like the look of Rugby Free but are a little concerned that due to a much higher number of SEN students, pupils such as our son may become a little ‘invisible’. We know very little about Harris.

Does anyone have any experience of these schools that they could share? Thank you 😊

Our DS has just started at LSS and he LOVES it! He's really coming out of his shell there.

He too is a non-sporty boy but there are so many other things to get their teeth into there (Maths clubs, games clubs, debating etc). The staff seem very switched on and available to speak to, if necessary.

Happy to answer any question you have. I don't know much about the other 2 schools, sorry.

Oh, other school to look at (if you're in catchment - it's very popular) is Houlton.

Have heard really good things.

Oh God, sorry - just realised it's Warwickshire 11+ results day!!!

Hope it's all gone well!!

Thank you, that is great to hear. We think he has just achieved enough to get in to LSS, fingers crossed, depending on how many children apply this year. 😊
