Occasional Places Y8-Y9 London

We’ve recently moved to Swiss Cottage and my daughter will have to travel quite far to get to her current school. (in Ware) Does anyone know schools with occasional places, preferably all girls? She will be going to Y8. I’ve been looking at QG and FHRP, just not sure how welcoming they are. She is very academic and quite shy.

Another option we have is for her to board weekly at school, which she isn’t too keen about.

Start ringing the school offices next week. Due to the possibility of vat on fees from Jan some parents may have withdrawn their dc over the summer if a state school place has come up.

Also subscribe to the good schools guide to get a list of all the private schools. She will have to take an entry exam to get a place too.

Thanks so much @tennissquare I will indeed subscribe and will start ringing as soon as the term starts again! :)

As for the entrance exam, she is quite used to it since she took 11+ prep.

You could try Channing and SHSS, I know people who moved there on occasional places, although not recently.

Also give rolling notice to your current school so tell them the commute is too long and you are looking for a new school so are giving notice to leave at end of autumn term but may have to delay if a place can't be found.

Once you get into the first few days of the autumn term you are liable for the spring terms fees too which may have the vat added.

Whats the catchment area like in Queens College? Are there people coming from North London area or is it more central based?
