Hi, we are going to move to Cambridge in this year, i have a daughter who is year 6, does anyone have any comments/ reviews about Comberton village college and Swavesey village college? Just thinking which school is good for my daughter, it's difficult decision for me.

You can have a look at the most recent ofsted report for each on their websites, and sometimes info on their governing bodies meetings to get a feel for how they are.

I think both are acknowledged to be good. Comberton might be slightly 'posher' as its catchment includes more affluent villages, but both are seen as good schools. Where exactly are you going to be living? Are you looking for a house based on catchment for the preferred school, or are you hoping you get a choice of schools?

Thank you for your reply. I am also looking for the house which nearby the school, so i may need to decide the school first.

You will need to get your skates on - it will be tricky to move before the end of October deadline for applications.

Historically Comberton has been the better thought of, but Swavesey's recent Ofsted was glowing. I don't know anyone unhappy with either of the schools.

I know i need to get on the rocket 😂As both of school are good, it's really hard to make a decision.

In that case I would honestly just move fast to get whichever house you can that you like, that comes up in the catchment for either school. There's probably nothing much to choose between them. Your child's ability and attitude to learning will be far more significant than the choice of school.

Both good, so I wouldn't prioritise one catchment over the other on the grounds of 11-16 schooling.
The most significant difference is that Comberton has its own sixth form, so there's a low-travel option at that stage. Some Comberton kids will opt for the Cambridge sixth form colleges anyway, but from Swavesey there's no local option. However Swavesey is on the guided busway, so travel to sixth form (and into Cambridge for other purposes) is easier.
