Should school leaders promote “violence” and aggression to 11 to 16-year-olds?

Even in jest, should school leaders promote “violence” and aggression to several hundreds of 11 to 16-year-olds? I think not.

The phrase “gun down” typically means to shoot or kill someone with a gun. In a figurative or casual context, such as sports or competition, it can imply decisively defeating or out-performing someone. However, it’s important to note that house competitions at the school include not just sports but also drama, music, and academics.

The game “Rainbow Six Siege” is rated M for Mature by the ESRB, meaning it is suitable for players aged 17 and up due to its intense violence, strong language, and suggestive themes. Most boys at the school are 16 or younger.

I don’t consider myself overly sensitive, but given the increased violence in schools, am I being too cautious?

Sorry but I don't see anything in your post that suggests school leaders are promoting this?

I see a screenshot of what looks to be something written by a typical Year 7 boy!

LochKatrine · 20/07/2024 13:46

The school will not be promoting this, or anything else linked to violence.

Who was the paragraph written by, and in what context?

AGoingConcern · 20/07/2024 21:27

Have you considered a hobby?

Variedviews · 20/07/2024 22:23

I was requested to take down the additional information. This is an entry made by one of the school’s house captains in a publication sent to all pupils and parents and published on the school’s public website.

It is published in the school’s quarterly magazine, written by the school captain, deputies, senior prefects and house captains and endorsed and promoted by the headmaster.

Volunteer placement
Summer job
Hobby

Pick one of these for yourself and get after it. Stop seeking to create trouble over absolutely absurd things.

Variedviews · 20/07/2024 22:32

@AGoingConcern A hobby such as your near-obsessive, around-the-clock commenting on Mumsnet?

Oh, it’s written by your son!

Honestly, please go get yourself a life. The amount of shit in this world and you zone in on this innocuous shit. Cop on.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/07/2024 22:34

You again?

your earlier post was removed for good reason. You posted personal details of students at your child’s school, with their photographs.

Shame on you.

Variedviews · 20/07/2024 22:35

And I stood corrected and requested it was taken down.

Stand corrected again and request the same of this one.

Have you spoken to the school about your concerns? Did you not get the answer you expected so that’s why you are posting here?
In answer to your original question- yes, In my opinion you are being overly cautious.
