No school vacancies in the Richmond Borough

Hello there!

My family is moving to Richmond Borough in August. We have been planning our house search in the East Sheen as there was only the RPA school that had vacancies for year 8th.

But now no school in the Borough has any place 🥲. I am lost! Not sure how I should go about finding a home now as I am afraid of finding a home and then get a school 1h away.

What are the criteria of allocating a school place if none of the schools in the Borough have places? I know a child must receive a place.

Hello everyone, and thank you for all your help. We moved in East Sheen in August. Applied for school year 8th as soon as we had proof of address. We listed 4 schools on our application. RPA is the closest one so we listed it first. Unfortunately we need to wait till the schools opening in September to hear something back.

Because all the schools in the borough were full we waited for the Fair Admission Protocol to be used. This was after 15 school days. Finally 3 weeks after school has started we got assigned a place at RPA and my son started that same week as soon as we had the uniform ready.

We are happy with the school so far. My son loves the teachers and he has been doing very well academically. The beginning was a bit rough with making friends. My son is shy and not good at making the first step but eventually he found his people (or more I think they found him 🤪).
