Leaving year12 for an apprenticeship

My DD has been offered an NHS apprenticeship this afternoon (she applied as not enjoying her A levels). She won’t start until September, so what does she do now?

it’s half term here at mo, but will organise a meeting with school next week. Does she have to continue the year or can she leave now?

I don’t know the answer but I just wanted to say congratulations to your daughter. The NHS apprenticeships I’ve seen in action have been fantastic and offer excellent career development. Definitely a great choice if A levels are not working out.

Sorry to derail the thread a bit though.

Could she contact someone related to the apprenticeship and ask what the most useful thing for her to do would be between now and September? Maybe leave school and do some volunteering at a local hospital or something?

Again well done to her, there isn't that much of Y12 left, she could finish the year or maybe leave and do some part time work and or volunteering. If you get CB and /or UC these will stop when she leaves full time education.

Is she doing any AS levels? Is that still even a thing? If not then I would be tempted to tell her to finish but I dont actually know why it just seems a bit of a waste to leave now. She still has all summer holidays before her apprenticeship starts.

Thanks all, so pleased for her!
will discuss AS levels with school and see what they say. She can also contact the apprenticeship coordinator, I just thought I’d ask in the meantime.

good to know about the child benefit, had assumed it would still be education. Though she turns 18 in October anyway!

She already works part time, so could always pick up some extra hours

I think she should finish her a level course rather than dropping out. She can still do the apprenticeship even with an a-level
