Im thinking of queens college for my DD in September 2024, i was just wondering what other parents or students thought of it, academically and pastorally and what the actual school day is like. I want her to go somewhere that is academic but also fun and not super pressured. Is there lots of homework, and what time does school roughly end? I would love to know everyone’s thoughts. Thank you so much.

Do you mean you're thinking of applying to start in 2025? Or you've just been offered a place off the WL to start in Sept in Y7?

ah I’m so sorry!! I meant apply for 2025 not 2024!

Ah! That makes more sense! I've heard universally positive things, and many girls choosing it over higher-ranked offers. But no personal experience. I have my eye on it for DD in a few years.

At the moment it's very popular and has a good reputation. Lots of bright girls not getting places so be prepared for that.

My DD is an academic scholar in Y8 and we could not be happier. She chose Queen's over FHRP (with academic scholarship) and Channing. The pastoral care is astounding, academics are rigorous but fun, and extracurriculars - music and drama in particular - impressive. She is growing in confidence and expanding her interests. Homework is not irrelevant, and growing - usually 3 subjects a day, max 30 mins each recommended. But if they skip one day the piling up becomes stressful - my DD tends to work on same-day assignments to avoid hitting the wall later. Every girl is encouraged to be herself and find her true passion, which leads to a vast array and level of abilities being fostered - no hierarchy of interests. And the vibe is really, consistently positive. The staff seems to be on top of everything and top-notch professionals.
