Bullying in changing rooms - legal

Can a teacher or similar comment on what the law is around whether a teacher can be present in the school changing rooms?

DS being bullied in the changing rooms by other boys in his year group when getting ready for sports.

Sxhool says they can’t put a teacher in the changing room as it’s not allowed but in the meantime the boys go wild, throwing bags, shoes, fighting each other, smacking others, calling names, black mailing for food etc,

I’ve complained already and school said someone is outside the changing room but I don’t think this happened. Today the boys wouldn’t let my DS in to get changed.

There is no specific law on this. However, from a safeguarding perspective, adults should not be in the changing room watching pupils or repeatedly going in and out without good reason. This is both to protect the pupils and to protect members of staff from possible false allegations.

Having said that, it sounds like your son is being bullied and the school is not doing anything effective to stop it. Focus on that rather than the specific changing room issue. What are they going to do to fix that? Unless they do something positive to address the issue, you may have to consider moving your son to another school.
