John Lyon or Francis Holland?

FantaFizz · 12/05/2024 18:23

My DD is currently at John Lyon (Y8) and I have had the feel of the environment for a long time now, and it seems to me there are many more boys in the higher years than girls. In my DD's class there are only 7 girls whilst 17 boys. She feels a little bit as a minority.

I have indeed visited Francis Holland and was thinking Regent's Park instead of Sloane Square as it is easier to commute for us. But I have heard a few people's bad experiences at Francis Holland but I am still keen.

We are going to try for some other schools aswell.

Has anyone had a bad experience at Francis Holland or has a friend that goes there?

But you have a place at St Paul's? All your posts are very confusing.

Calling BS on the OP.

Where does your child actually have a definite place or places?

FantaFizz · 13/05/2024 19:11

@Whatevers Many apologies, but I actually have 3 DD's and I have confused a ton lot of people. I should have made my OP clearer but no need to get all mad, thank you very much.

One of My DD's has secured a definite place at SPGS but my other DD is at John Lyon, hoping to move to a nicer environment.

I should have mentioned this in my OP, but I have 3 DD's. This is actually quite BS that I haven't explained clearly, I know that but it is my first time using Mums net as It was recommended to me by one of my colleagues xx

Sincere Apologies,

@FantaFizz Totally understand why she would feel like that! I believe that girls can really thrive in single sex schools in the right conditions. My friend's DD graduated a couple years ago from FHS Regent's Park, they have good pastoral care, and great facilities - especially with Regent's Park so close by! They do host a fair amount of extra curricular activities and also have a swimming pool. I would say though, it seems that Maths and Sciences are lacking. The humanities teaching is superb, but STEM not so much...
