My DD is starting secondary sept 25 she has a EHCP for ADHD, dyslexia and has a learning delay of 2-3 years.
I am trying to decide whether she will be able to manage at St Philomena or Glenthorn with SEN support or whether I should apply for specialist school such as Carew Academy.

I am concerned she will not be able to keep up with mainstream but worried the specialist school will hold back her social development.

Does anyone have experience of the 2 mainstream schools send provision ?

I have visited all of the schools, but real life knowledge would be really helpful

My daughter has send and we looked at both schools in some depth. Tbh not sure either would be a good choice if your child is not academic, as they are both very focused on target grades etc. In the end we didn't have a choice as Glenthorne were not willing to take her, despite having an EHCP (they found spurious reasons, and gave the impression that they didn't want children who might need extra support, as it would detract from others' learning). We accepted St Philomenas, and have had a mixed but on balance positive experience so far - but my daughter is academically very able so I'm not sure how well they would cater for those needing extra academic support. Other parents of children with Send speak very highly of the sen team at Oaks Park - they seem to be the only mainstream locally who are genuinely inclusive of children with send, and would definitely recommend considering if you want mainstream. Sorry, no experience of Carew or the other specialist provisions.
