Vape detectors

Can anyone suggest a good, low cost, vape detector for a secondary school? Our PTA would like to buy some and donate them to the school.

Probably best to say to the school ‘we’d like to donate X amount to be used for…’.so you don’t donate things they are unwilling/unable to fit and maintain.

@DSstateDDprivate as the pp said, you need to let the school choose a product, but they could contact a school that already has them for recommendations, e.g. this one: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-68639100.

Worth noting, they are unsuitable for schools with floor-to-ceiling cubicles, unless you can afford to put one in each cubicle (this was considered prohibitively expensive for our school unfortunately).

The Royal High School in Edinburgh is one of the first in Scotland to install vape detectors.

Maybe I'm being naively optimistic here but is youth vaping likely to become less of a problem in the not too decent future once the law has been changed to ban packaging and flavours which appeal most to young people? Obviously future legislation doesn't deal with the problems schools are experiencing around this right now but I would be reluctant to spend a lot of hard earned PTA money on alarms which may not be needed long term.

My Dts in y7 have kids vaping in class. My generation smoked in the toilets. It's fucked up.

The school is getting some from Vape Patrol apparently. PTA is provding the funds (150 quid each).

In that case £150 per alarm would be worth spending, I assumed they would be more expensive.

For secondary school implementation, Forensics Detectors vape detectors offer an excellent balance of reliability and affordability. Their portable units provide straightforward operation ideal for school environments, with rechargeable batteries lasting a full school day. The comparison measurement approach enables staff to effectively identify potential vaping incidents while minimizing false alarms.
