SEN in QE boys and Latymer

Can anyone share their experience of SEN in these 2 North London grammar schools. I know their website says they accept children with SEN and EHCPs.

My question is more around their attitude to SEN and EHCPs. Are they kind to SEN kids? Do they welcome the EHCP?
For example, if they only grudgingly accept SEN kids with EHCPs because they have to and they don't really want them there, then we won't bother with the application and the entrance exam.

Any insight greatly appreciated.
Thank

Can't speak for Latymer but we live v close to QEB and I'm not sure where your info's from but admissions are purely via the exam route. If your son needs special arrangements eg extra time in order to take the exam the school will presumably consider your request but he'd still need to take the exam and score at the appropriate level. If you look up historic years' allocation tables you'll see that all 180 places are offered according to academic ability whereas other schools in the borough list children who receive offers according to a range of criteria eg EHCP/ siblings/ children of teachers/ distance/ music/ faith etc but QE only has one criterion, academic ability.

Thanks for your feedback. My child does have SEN. He is also very academic and very confident to sit the exams and score very close to 100%. I have read the info online and understand it’s about the entrance exam.
my query is about the attitude to SEN, not the academia. Thanks

Ah, I misunderstood sorry. Well in that case, if I were you, I'd be giving the school a ring and asking. There may well be other boys with a similar SEN/ highly academic profile.

Thanks again for your feedback. I have already contacted the school and understand what they say.

my question here is around what peoples experiences to the schools attitude to SEN and EHCPs are. This could be very different to what the school view of their offering is.
Or it could be the same. This is why I’m asking for the feedback of peoples experience.

I am not asking what the school says about its own SEN policy or its admissions policy.
thank you for trying to help

I think it depends on what exactly your son needs to thrive. If hes HFA I wouldn't touch QEB but would try Latymer. Neither will be great but Latymer with a go.

Depends what your child's SEN is surely? They won't be great with dyslexics for example, as they won't have many but lots with ASD happy at grammars and I know schools like Latymer have lots of what they see as "quirky" kids. It's very relaxed rules wise and the kids are quite "normal" in terms of intensity of their geekiness. QE is much more intense. QE isn't very diverse as well so if your son isn't from a SE Asia background he may feel a bit like he sticks out.

Also wondering if anyone has experience of a child with high functioning autism at QE boys. Our son currently goes to radlett prep and doesn’t have an EHCP but does has regular contact/meetings with the SENCO
