When will councils post their Y7 accepted distances? (London)

MagPiedPiper · 07/03/2024 13:58

My DD is Y5 so I am keenly watching this year's acceptances to see if we have any chance to get into our top choice schools next year. At what point is that information made public? I don't see anything on the council websites.

Edit: Sorry, I mean offer distances.

I’m desperate to know too (we’re only y4 but I need to work out whether we need to think about moving house). Hope it’s soon so I can update my spreadsheet 😆

Foxesandsquirrels · 07/03/2024 14:02

Haringey already have

Spreadsheetsrock · 07/03/2024 19:26

Richmond already have - I think they did it on the 1st. I think they provide distances for cutoff on National Offer Day and then update it once more later in the year based on furthest distance offered at the start of September.

SaltBlossom · 07/03/2024 19:54

Barnet already has

SaltBlossom · 07/03/2024 19:56

So has Haringey

MagPiedPiper · 07/03/2024 20:57

I see that Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster have theirs up (though a bit burried) at https://www.westminster.gov.uk/sites/default/files/media/documents/How%20places%20were%20offered%20at%20bi-borough%20secondary%20schools%20-%201%20March%202024.pdf

I'm looking for Camden, but can't seem to find it. Can't tell if it's buried, I'm blind, or if it's just not there!

What are the different bands for?

Foxesandsquirrels · 07/03/2024 21:09

I've been trying to find Camden's for ages, normally it's there but nothing this year! @MagPiedPiper

Interesting Parli is getting more and more popular year in year despite dipping birth rates

ncsurrey22 · 08/03/2024 10:19

Interesting! Are these a bit wider than last years in case of camden school for gjrls?

I've posted 2023 figures. Seems this year all bands, except band A, shrunk. Probably siblings.

Edited

I was hoping Parli had expanded, not contracted! We’re definitely out of range.

Has anyone found the Islington one?

Blahblah34 · 08/03/2024 12:19

Ours already have. Google "how places were allocated" secondary and your council name

Foxesandsquirrels · 08/03/2024 12:22

@MagPiedPiper ask Camden to give you the distance of the last accepted child as of 1/09. Haringey does this. Will give you a realistic view of waiting lists.
Next year should be easier, although Parli is extremely popular at the moment. Lots choosing it over Camden. Hornsey girls hasn't had a catchment past few years could be an alternative.

CPF · 08/03/2024 12:32

@Spreadsheetsrock I cant find the Richmond distances offered last week . Could you please share the link ?

Camdenish · 08/03/2024 13:25

That CSG band D 0.36 makes me cross. The banding tests don’t take into account that girls may have SEN or learning disabilities.

Foxesandsquirrels · 08/03/2024 13:30

@Camdenish why does it make you cross? Doesn't that just mean that quite a few girls from that band applied so the catchment for it is lower?

I asked that this autumn and I think the Parli cut off was still 1.43. A bit further, but not far enough!
