Another appeal question

Its early stages, we are covering all possibilities to prepare for appeals.

My child missed out on taking the CAT tests during the allocated week but took them later. Although we have not fully investigated, we believe it may be a reason why we didn't receive any of our preferred schools. Is this possible? Will this absence negatively affect our appeal for our child to attend any of our chosen schools. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

No it's not possible. Places are allocated according to the admissions criteria which you will find on the school website. I've never come across a school where CAT tests taken on time form part of those criteria.

Did you council / schools have entrance tests - then yes if you didn't meet deadline it may have been an issue. Ours have a test in October and another in December - those in December don't see results before submitting. That shouldn't alter outcome - I don't know what happens if you don't take it at all. So a little difficult as we don't know the full details of your council/ school requirements to answer this. CAT tests are normally taken at the start of secondary by the children.

No, taking the CAT tests will not be the reason you missed out on your preferred schools and it will not negatively affect any appeal.
