Francis Holland vs SHHS for 11+ daughter

Hello, everyone. My daughter has offers from SHHS & FHRP.
She is very bright, but not hugely disciplined as regards homework (needs nagging).
She is also very bubbly & sociable, seens very popular with classmates & teachers alike.
She loves English (writes a lot) and drama, but she’s also interested in becoming a vet.

On the one hand, SHHS seems to have the edge academically, however, I’ve read comments on other threads about “alpha girls” and worried if she becomes demoralised if all the other girls are super-smart academically. I’m also wondering if it’s cliquey, given that many children know each other from junior school.

Francis Holland Reg Park seems really nurturing and cosy, but I wonder whether they would stretch her enough academically if she decided she does want to become a vet / follow a STEM subject.

Commuting is equidistant to both schools, so that is not an issue for us.

I would also like to know the demographic make-up of the schools. We are not a religious family, so I wouldn’t be keen for her to feel left out if most of her mates are churchgoing Christians /Jewish etc.

I’d love to hear from parents who have experienced the schools’ atmosphere firsthand. Thanks very much in advance.

Sorry, it’s not letting me edit – I don’t mean I don’t want her having Christian or Jewish friends. I just don’t want her to feel left out if her friends are very devout in their religions. DD already has Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist friends in her current prep school.

Hello. Similar situation. We were at the FHS offer holders’ this morning. Go back to both and see what feels right? It impossible to know where they will thrive and make friends. Probably both. Commuting distance? Other DCs?

Why do you think FHRP might not stretch academically? I'm curious as it's a top choice for us for our DD (she is current Year 5 so looking at Year 7 in 2025). Obviously it seems not as academic as SHHS results-wise but there seems to be good opportunities for the girls and very nurturing pastorally in a way I'm not sure I have seen from SHHS.

Interested to hear as we are trying to wrap our heads around potential options. Congratulations on your offers!

How did it go did your DD get into FHRP for year 7?
