We are considering this school for my boy (Year 7) and my girl (Year 10) in Sep 2024.
The GCSE results were quite well. Does anyone have experience on year 7 or year 10 of this school?

Thank you.

I don't have experience but I live near by. It's a marmite school, you either love it and travel long distances to go there or don't view it on the same level as the many other private local schools.

As you have missed the year 7 entry exams for your ds for a sept 24 start it's probably your best bet unless you consider a prep school like Newland House for him. Year 10 is also a pretty tricky entry point for your dd in terms of available spaces.
What are your other options and where do you live? Ewell Castle would probably be your other option in terms of places available.

hhf · 08/02/2024 12:24

Thank you for tennissqure's comments.
What aspects well for people love it and what aspects I should consider when compare it with other same level private local schools?

We will move to Uk from Asia.

Could you tell me more about Ewell Castle?
Is it same level with Hampton Court House?

You need to visit HCH because it has a unique teaching ethos. Ewell Castle isn't academic but it will have a year 10 space. You need to use an educational consultant to guide you re this. Most academic private schools are full for year 7 sept 24 because the admissions process closed last Autumn.

Lamplight101 · 08/02/2024 13:13

Don't waste your money on a consultant. You can easily find a range of schools that you like (even from Google if unable to visit) and then simply phone to see if they have places. At most subscribe to The Good School Guide (a short membership around £30) and read the ISI reports online. The GSG is not "warts and all" but it will for example explain why HCH is better suited to some families than to others.

Thank you, Lamplight101.
It's an useful information.

Hello, hoping to resurrect this thread for recent views on Hampton Court House School.

JulesLise · 02/03/2024 09:51

Considering my daughter for a late entry to Y7 at HCH. Would love to hear recent views now that the new Principal is in place.

EasterMoM2024 · 10/04/2024 21:43

Current HCH parent here - both my children are at HCH (now Year 7 and 9) and absolutely love it - we as a family couldn't be happier with the school.

It is highly academic, but not a hot house - it feels like a family - all teachers really know my children and understand them as young people rather than just students. It's different - but really special and I am so glad we found it.

Would agree with @Tennissquare re marmite factor - but that is because people are generally afraid to try marmite - when they have a go - they love it :)

Hi, I am planning to send my son for year 7 from this September. Can you please give some inputs about the school. Today I went for open day and felt optimistic.

EasterMoM2024 · 24/04/2024 22:54

Hi - we are really plsed with the school and both my children just love it. Have PMed you and very happy to answer - if I can - any questions. :)

My son is in Year 10 and super happy with the school. The school is academic, demanding, but with a very warm touch.

Thanks for ur reply, I went to open day and was happy overall. Do you feel outside sports and this less number of students in year group is a concern. Also for A level bards and students are staying back there.

Tessa78 · 20/05/2024 09:36

I think they have enough sports options: a lot of lunch / after school clubs where they can do fencing, rowing, football etc. My son is sharing his time between extra music lessons and sport, and he finds it is very balancing. Small groups was actually one of the reasons we wanted this school: teenagers need more focus (and more attention) and it became more important when they are working towards GCSE. We are planning to stay for A level.

Hampton court house school has many issues.

half a class left in the last academic year, due to school issues. Clearly not all parents are happy..

Apple101 · 13/10/2024 11:41

No change… the school has no community feel and there are also issues of nepotism, which irate current and ex Hch parents.

7 family’s left one class alone the year before last due to having so many different English teachers, this last academic year half a different class left.

Ofstead report also touches on issues with teachers

SWLondonMama · 25/10/2024 08:32

Our son is in Year 10 at Hampton Court House, and has been there for 3 years. We could not be happier with the school and our son is thriving. The environment is academic but supportive, a nurturing and respectful ethos, and a committed and involved Principal. Highly recommend!

SWLondonMama · 25/10/2024 08:37

Our son is there is year 10 and we couldn’t be happier. The Principal is great and the environment is nurturing whilst being academic. We have been at the school for 3 years and highly recommend

Tessa78 · 26/10/2024 16:00

Was surprised with the comment from Apple. We have the same English teacher as the year ago, and all class loves him. I can't obviously talk on behalf of all Years, but this is how the things are in Year 11.

EasterMoM2024 · 04/11/2024 14:33

I agreee with @Tessa78 and @SWLondonMama. My children are now in Year 8 and Year 10 and absolutely love it. We are incredibly happy at HCH and my children are both thriving both academically and personally.

HanGN · 21/03/2025 15:30

Did you decide to move her? How are you finding HCH we’re considering sending our daughter here

HanGN · 21/03/2025 15:33

Would love any input on the school 😊

Tessa78 · 22/03/2025 14:14

You may ask me. My sons are there for two years already. I wanted to move one, but we ended up moving both. They are in senior school and find it as a very balanced environment between academic requirements, pastoral care, art and music. Both live music and the school music department is good there. One of my kids is sporty too, and the school has a few clubs including fencing. Classes are small which work very good for my both sons. Overall, for us this school was absolutely perfect choice.

Tom9301 · 04/04/2026 03:55

We have recently left. I sadly don’t agree with the upbeat comments left here. Such a negative place!!! So many people leaving. it’s not uncommon for half a class to leave. Turnover of staff is staggering! something like 50 in the last few years. There is no consistency with teaching. The French immersion is a joke. Bullying is bad, and often unresolved. The standard of education dropped after the take over. The school went into free fall and hasn’t recovered.
