Experiences of schools supporting very mild additional needs in Berkshire and surrounds.

Looking for your experiences of independent secondary schools around Henley, Marlow, Maidenhead, Twyford, Caversham etc where your child has been well supported with mild extra needs for example speed of processing, auditory processing, inference of speech, speech and language skills etc. Particularly interested from anyone whose DD has participated in the “girls on board” program at their secondary school and what it was like. Where should I be looking around?? In terms of academics doing well in reading and maths at a standard primary. Not looking to tutor or have a highly selective process. Thank you so much.

St George’s Ascot might be an option. They recently did a ‘girls on board’ presentation at their year 9 parents evening.

Thanks so much. That was only vaguely on my radar but I might take a closer look.

Views on Luckley House, Shiplake, Leighton Park and Claire’s Court also welcomed re the specifics above. Thank you!

Definitely look at Luckley House; whilst I don’t know of anyone there with the specific issues you describe, I know a child with dyslexia and a child with ADHD/Dyslexia both doing very well there, SEN team very supportive.
I may be wrong about Shiplake, but I have heard that it may not suit a child with “mild” needs: there are places available for students needing learning support, but possibly with a greater need than you describe.
I’ve heard good things about Claire’s Court boys SEN, but know almost nothing about the girls.

It's a million years since my dyslexic cousin went there, @Missingthesnow2 but could Pangbourne College fit the bill?

Thanks for the suggestion - probably too far for using as a day school. But will take a look!

You could also try Dolphin School in Hurst which has Montessori origins and has a strong SEN support. The school is for kids aged 3-13 (up to Y8).

Thanks for replying. Definitely looking for Y7-11 however.

Have you considered Crossfields? Have recently heard good things about their Sen support.
