Wondering what others have thought of the 11+ exam this week and of the application process so far? Also, if the ditching of GCSEs etc. is a concern for anyone?
DC got the maths finished; said there were 2 or 3 tough questions (maths is stronger than English for them) but overall of similar difficulty to the sample papers. Thought the English was of middling difficulty. The whole thing seemed well organised.
We are interested by the new curriculum, though at the same time a little wary. It could be fabulous if done right.

@pinkgaia I assume this was within the last few days and relating to a bursary. I don't have much direct experience, but have heard that every year they'll get a few chancers who are trying to hide significant assets (second homes etc) to blag a bursary, so they have to ask a bunch of questions as due diligence.
I'd assume they'd only bother with a home visit at this stage if your DC has passed all the academic/selection hurdles and they want to offer your DC a place. They need to establish that your family/home circumstances are consistent with what's on whatever paperwork you gave them. I can understand the questions must feel intrusive.

👋 hello just wondering why the have bursary interviews before offers? As why bother if no offer is made…And do they hold interviews for all candidates? Another parent had a phone call but no home visit?

Presumably they need to give details of any bursary offered if and when they make an offer. Some people may get a place but no bursary and they need to know this when they get the offer..

Yes, seems understandable. I thought it also sort of raised hopes of an offer. Unless they tell you before hand of a place but not bursary details. Not long now however! Good luck to all waiting.

Any parents here who got bursaries but worried that Lanour coming in with VAT would increase fee again at Latymer?

Shivvyshiv · 05/06/2024 17:48

Hi, not sure about bursaries effects, but definitely a worry for skl fee increases in general.

Aimhigh20 · 10/02/2026 19:29

How did the visit go - did you get a place at the end of?

lolo99 · 15/02/2026 20:59

their bursaries are v generous for those who prove to need them.
