hi all,
Ned your valuable input on my situation.
I am basicslly from Milton Keynes.
Have 2 children :daughter i y10 in a grammer school in buckingham. son in y6 who scored very good for queen elizibeth boys school in London. Have kept qe as a first preference, however very much scared that how my daughter will cope if we move her from her current grammer school. was also considering the parents to be split between son and daughter till daughter finishes her gcse)around 10 months) and then joining her in a levels near qe boys.

Kindly guide my questions
1.What are the grammer schools near banet for girls?

2.Is it a common thing to go to a different school for A level?

3.My daughter wanted to do something along the lines of maths and chemistry in A levels, so what is the min grades that the grammer schools accept?

4.Is it hard to get a place into a levels?

Please let me know any suggestions.
Than you so much.

thank you all for your valuable inputs, much appreciated.
it was my ds wish to go into qe and as she got a good score, we opted as a first preference thinking that we can adjust for 10 months till dd completes gcse .After seeing all this posts made me realize how much of an impact it has :(

Presumably you did the research and told him about it though then put him in for the test. I can't see a 10yo doing so independently. It seems a drastic move for you all. Is your second choice also selective?

I don't believe a child living in Milton Keynes would spontaneously decide they wanted to go to a school in Barnet (and, if they did, why you didn't just point out it was far too far away).

However, as we're now past secondary admissions closing date, you need to decide what you are going to do to minimise the impact on both your children.

hi,
it is because his school friends were talking about it and also our friends moved near qe.

Wait, your disrupting your dd's education for your sons? Is is 1723?

DeadbeatYoda · 07/11/2023 21:45

Sorry, misread the op. Glad you're not putting your son's education above your daughter's.

Are all these friends planing to uproot their families? Surely it is up to you as parents to rein it in a bit. There are perfectly good schools, including grammars, in Bucks , one of which your dd is settled at,
