hi all,

I'm looking for a little advice. we currently live in Scotland and my daughter is in S2. She will begin her Nat 5's next academic year.

I have been offered a job in England and am trying to understand if the move is possible from her education viewpoint. My understanding is that she will join Year 9, and the GCSE courses are due to start in January.

how has anyone navigated this move. has it been a problem academically for your child? would it be preferable to wait until after the Nat 5's (which is 2 and a half years away!). what things should i be aware of?

Any insights would be hugely appreciated. thank you

When would you get here? Before about Feb half term is likely to be ok in terms of GCSE choices, bit may not give her very much time to settle before having to make decisions.
Any point in Y9 is likely to be tough but manageable. Any point after that is likely to be extremely difficult.
GCSE courses shouldn't start until the September of Y10, but many schools do lots of prep work before that point.

I'd say yes, it's doable, but you need to move fast.

GCSE’s start year 10 really, so move now if you’re going to do it.

GCSE classes won't start in January. They will start the September after.
(or rather they shouldn't....some schools do start them in Year 9 but it's discouraged and not the norm)
