Does MidYIS score change over the years

I didn't know about MidYIS at all until recently when DD's (year 8) school shared it with us this year for some reason. The score is quite high (> 130) and a pleasant surprise.

But we used to teach her at home for 11+ and still do occasionally, and never felt she was as able as the score suggests (neither of us are teachers though, and haven't taught anyone else)

two questions really - is it possible to get a high score by mistake? And does a child show variation in score over time?
(Just to be clear, we haven't shared the score with DD)

My sons have done a variety of SATs CATs and MidYIS over the years and their results have been very variable . If your DC passed 11+ ,130 sounds possible though

My 11+ pass has had scores between115-135 and the one that didn’t pass - 100 to 122 (think his MidYIS was about 114)

Ah, so it does vary. Thank you!

It’s not just an overall score. It has different scores, depending on where the strengths and weaknesses are.

Unfortunately the school didn't share that. So we have no idea what the individual scores are.

Its useful because a child might have a high score in maths for example, so would probably suit a top set, but a lower score in another section.

A lower overall score is round about 85-95, average up to about 115-120, so 130 would be above average, but it helps if you have the individual component scores.

My dc all used to get very very high scores but they underperformed at school. They are dyslexic. Possibly something to do with that. Seems pointless to me. If a school can see scores suggesting very high ability but the child's performance is very average or lower you'd think they would implement something.

Thanks! I didn't consider this.
