Hockerill boarding opinions from current parents

Seriously considering weekly boarding at Hockerill but keep on having thoughts about it all being a bit overrated and having the feeling that they simply sell their product and maybe it is not as great as they say it is?
Are there any present parents of weekly boarders who can share their experiences about the school? Does it really live up to their promises?
DC loved the school and seems to be keen on boarding.

We attended the taster evening yesterday and I felt a bit deflated as compared to the open day. There was not much said about international trips and a few times mentions about weekly boarders paying extra for what full boarders get access to (but fee wise the difference is really small between the two types of boarding).
I felt that a lot was not said (may be it should not be, i do not know). But they did not particularly make me feel that i can entrust my child to them. I would say it was a bit too official instead of making parents feel a bit more comfortable and assured. I felt that there was no real case study but rather generic answers that yes they do have processes in place. But what are these processes...

We loved speaking to present students and they all show great confidence and positive attitude. I understand that a local comprehensive probably won't be offering what Hockerill seems to offer in terms of languages and international outlook.

Appreciate any answers and advice!

Does your child enjoy languages? I think the curriculum choices are quite narrow as you move into year ten because you have to continue with two languages. I have a daughter in another local secondary school who got better gcse grades than her friend that was a flexi boarder at Hockerhill. It really depends on the child.

Son is a flexi border and loves it. They definitely stress the “rules” early on as in the past people have tried to pay for boarding as a way to attend as a day pupil, which comes across as a little officious in tone. It is definitely more relaxed as they go up through the school.
