Hi, I’m considering the above two schools for my year 6 boy. I’d be so grateful to get your views the these two schools from any parents of boys currently going. I’m particularly concerned about ofsted’s report on WC where is states that a minority of boys in lowers years lack respect for each other. Should I take this with a pinch of salt?

Has your son been baptised in the first year of his life?
They have very strict admission rules.
I know few mums that have sons there. Good school but very strict. If you don't have pencil - detention, if you have not shirt in - detention. But maybe that is what it takes to make a fine men. The school site is great and really neat. Behind the school site is a nice park.

Thanks so much for your response. He has been baptised within the first year. We’ve also got a certificate of Catholic practice. But with feeder schools etc, it seems RC is impossible for anyone not in the local area to get in. Would be interested to hear views on Wimbledon College. I feel behaviour is better at RC. A WC sixth former pushed my Year 6 boy out of the way recently on the street. We live right next to WC and wondering if this is just boys. Though people that go to my church have told me to stay clear of WC due to behavioural issues. Would like to hear views of parents of boys that go there.

I know lots of parents with boys there and all are very happy with it.

If you are looking at state schools in this particular area, you don't have a huge amount of choice, and it largely depends on the number of applications and where you rank on the admissions criteria.

If you prefer RC then put it down first- you have nothing to lose (does not impact your chances of getting into WC if you put it 2nd) Then whatever the concerns about WC, it is probably a better option than the other state schools in the area- Rutlish if you want boys, Raynes Park or Harris Wimbledon. You will need to fill up the rest of your spots on the form with those.

I would take it with a pinch of salt! My son is there and is very happy, never had any problems with behavior of other boys. It's a very good school. Good luck with your choice!

@Angeballi know this is a old post.Just wondering what school you went for in the end? My son did not get RC but WC so intrigued to know how anyone’s son is getting on?

TatsSW · 03/03/2026 17:05

@Aksanti got WC for my DS yesterday and happy as it was my first choice but puzzled that it is not a popular choice in our class. I loved the ethos of the school, and it seems that they are setting the right level of ambition for the boys. I wonder if people are staying away as they are not into religious schools. Would love to hear more from WC mums.

Aksanti · 03/03/2026 17:16

@TatsSWcongratulation! My DS will also be attending WC.I believe it may not be so chosen as its further out? A lot of DS friends will be attending Cardinal Vaughn or Oratory as it more known. We liked it and beleive DS will do well. Its a big school but we liked it.

@TatsSWalao know a few mums who are happy there.
