What is the content of GCSE PE, DT and Drama curriculum? I don't mean topic names. But what all do the students have to do to complete it? DD is confused between 3 options. Hope to find help from here in order to make the decision.

Thanks in Advance.

You'd need to know which specification her school is following to get a breakdown between practical and theory side. They are all slightly different.
Have the school not provided any support for choosing options?

Your school should publish an options booklet with this info in, as it varies by exam board and school. DT for example has several variants and not all schools offer all of them.

For DT the pupils have to complete coursework (NEA) on a given theme. They will have to research materials, customer/client requirements, produce a range of designs, depending on the exam board this may require proof of iteration (modifications based on models or customer responses.
They make a model or full size piece then test and evaluate the final product.

The exam is 20% maths and science based. they will need to know material properties, woods, metals, new and smart materials paper and board.
They will also need to know tools and equipment and how they are used and be able to show deign principles (drawing styles etc.)

If you know the exam board, you can find details online. But agree school should be providing information.

Depends on the Exam Board but - for the Drama Course I teach:
A 2 hr exam in which you write about a play studied and a play watched live. (40%)
1 devised piece of work with a 2500 piece of coursework alongside it (40%)
A scripted performance (20%)

The performance aspect takes up a lot of students' time, but they generally enjoy it and have a real sense of achievement. Great if they enjoy working with others. Creativity.

The exam is quite academic - good essay writing/analytical skills required (similar to English Lit which I also teach).

PE is 30% Non examined assessment. They have to be graded on 3 sports (2 team and 1 individial, or the other way round) and then prepare coursework assessment on on particular sport and the impact of training, S& C etc and how this can improve performance.

The two papers are more biology based. All amount the body and the impact of exercise on the heart, lungs, muscles and then there is the social and phycological impact of sport. Personally I wouldn't take it unless your DD doesn't a miniu=mum of one sport to a decent level out of school as its a pain to get footage to be assessed.

Not much to add to useful advice already, but if she is looking at PE, I would suggest that she needs to be playing a sport outside of school already.

Des not need to be national standard or whatever you might have read; just it is useful not to have to do all three (usually) sports in school. Also (as a rule) there will need to be one team and one individ sport for GCSE. So DS played footy (but just for a local team) and competed at athletics (for his county) already. His mate who was a good track athlete had to add a team sport through school (basketball IIRC).

Most schools publish an options booklet nearer to choosing time.
e.g. At DDs school they had an info evening in Jan/Feb of y9 with a talk & booklet and stands for subjects. Then parents evening a couple of weeks later.
You won't be asked to choose in a vacuum of info.

NB Drama requires group work, which is not so good if your DC has any communication or organisational issues, or maybe if everyone lives in far flung directions and uses school buses.
