Terrible school

Open day for year 6’s and parents and. Ofstead have recently been to my children’s (this week)

It’s a ashame to say that they made my daughter jump on a trampoline for 3 hours straight to impress the parents. My daughter came home past 8pm unable to even walk. Her whole body was aching. And they don’t even have a trampoline club

On the ofsted day, children had certain sentences they had to recite (which was announced in a Random assembly) in order to sound good for the school.

If any child had anything negative to say, they will be in trouble. Basically the school has no freedom of speech.

It’s sad to say that parents and children going into this school are catfished because the school is nothing if how they presented it.

Children get detentions handed out for minor reasons, like not being able to achieve the work given. And not walking in the correct side if the stairs or corridors. I have witnessed many parents come to the school shouting trying to understand why their children keep getting detentions. Mainly black families. They are making the children become professional liars because of their strictness.

Obviously there will always be certain children who are not well behaved intentionally and unintentionally, and they should be dealt with accordingly and not how the previous child was dealt with. Every child is an individual and should be treated differently.

The children do not personally know their headteacher and she knows nothing of them. And the vice principal is teaching students of which she taught their parents so she is so old and impatient with most children because of both reasons. I’m 33, I know her very well because she taught my friends back then, and she is a terrible person and teacher.

I really regret sending my children there and would NEVER recommend any child to go there. Chelsea academy Is literally a prison

What year is your daughter and do you have other children at the school?

LondonCityMum77 · 19/10/2023 09:27

Any views from parents specifically on the quality of the teaching please?

Maireas · 21/10/2023 09:50

Well, I'm going to be a bit pedantic, but it is not literally a prison. She doesn't have to attend because you can remove her and she can be enrolled in another school.
Have you had a look at other schools?

GranSmo · 08/01/2024 18:29

Complain in writing, if no joy complain to local education dept and OFSTED

Testina · 08/01/2024 21:56

Oh give over, nobody stuck a cattle prod in your child to make her keep trampolining.

Nineteendays · 08/01/2024 22:31

What- why didn’t your daughter just stop trampolining?

Russoooooo · 08/01/2024 22:44

What a load of bollocks.

No one can make your child trampoline for three hours 🧐

OFSTED would see straight through learnt phrases (not least because Bob in y10 would tell them about it as soon as they walked in)

If you choose to send your child to that school, you choose for her to follow the rules - about corridors / work / whatever.

Parents showing at receptionists aren’t going to help anyone or change anything. Requesting a formal meeting with the head or chair of governors might.

if you’ve known the head is a ‘terrible person’ for 33 years (I bet she’s not) then why send your child there?

It’s not a prison, literally, is it?

You obviously hate it. Just move your child somewhere else.

Happytimes123456 · 08/01/2024 22:46

Why was she on a trampoline for 3 hours?

You seem nice. 🤔

BippityBopper · 02/09/2024 07:39

Have you enquired about spaces at other schools?

I am shocked by your post. So full of vitriol for young people and immigrants. You say “Academies are for the less fortunate! “ My goodness you sound like a terrible snob. As for saying the kids are “no hopers”. I am lost for words at you writing off these children. They need education and to be talked of in this way is quite unpleasant. I presume your spawn are fortunate and go privately. However look at Michaela school if you want to see what such children can achieve in the right school.

RedRidingGood · 02/09/2024 07:50

@schnarf what a terrible thing to say. I bet your DC are an absolute delight Confused

MarchingFrogs · 02/09/2024 09:34

Wrt making pupils walk on a specific side of the corridors / stairs etc, I agree that some schools seem very trigger happy when it comes to making every small infringement of every sxhool rule a punishment matter - but ?next complaint about the school, They've stopped enforcing to corridor rule and my DD was barged into by a boy pushing his way along in the opposite direction...?

I read the post and I am also aware of this schools children. The description of the demographic and the behaviour of the kids, the lack of parenting, lack of economic funds of those parents, lack of hope for those kids is accurate. You can tell a school by its kids and you can also tell a kids parents by its kids. It's also a good indicator how well a child will do academically by the behaviour of that child. If you haven't experienced this schools children your opinion is irrelevant. I support "vitriol" for this school. It's a disgrace and the kids are a menace to the residents. The academy was set up for the under privileged but all it has done has ruined the area for residents.

Everything that was said is accurate. I have experienced this schools children on multiple occasions . Rather than complaining about the damning nature of a post perhaps you should be concerned about the truth of the matter.

NotMyDingleberry · 03/09/2024 13:14

The reviews speak for themselves. I've been to good schools and this isn't one of them, however, as much as poorly behaved school kids impact an area the blame isn't the kids or school but at their parents. However, the fact that poor parenting is to blame for the behaviour of a school's children doesn't mean a school isn't a poor choice. Would you want your children to go to a school with such children? I would rather choose a more discerning school and yes you will probably have to pay for that.

Slightly odd thead...

  • the school wasn't set up for 'underpriviledged kids'- the area was lacking state secondaries
  • the teachers are outside the school at the start and end of the day to watch behaviour and also to ensure the kids aren't run over by speeding Range Rovers- same as at many other state and private schools.
  • There are lots of lovely well behaved, hard working kids at the school- not all, but ta large number.
  • Pupils can talk in the corridors, move freely etc
  • There most definitely is a trampolining club

It's not a perfect school but certainly not like its being described upthread.
