Will schools' full GCSE results be published before secondary applications due

Just that really. The gov.uk site is still showing 2022 results (which as we all know aren't very indicative), with the 2023 results to be published "in the autumn".

Does anyone know when they're likely to appear? I'd like to see them before the 31 October application deadline so we can compare schools.

I’m hoping that you will make other comparisons, other than GCSE results. There are plenty of other factors determining a decision and the best way is to go and visit the schools, particularly those that have ‘drop in’ times.

Results depend on many things and are a crude indicator.

The official data is published in October. (This follows the so-called "September Checking Exercise" which hasn't opened yet, plus time for any papers to be re-marked.) All schools are required to also have GCSE results data on their websites.

If you can go to open evenings the HT talk will cover last years results in context

They will likely be displayed and spoken about at open evenings.

Thank you, but it's not my first rodeo, and having put one child through secondary already means my previous first choice for that child isn't even in my top three this year. One school in particular that I'm interested in is fairly new, and their first lot of GCSE results was in 2020, so while I like the school for many other reasons I do want to see their 2023 results.

There are still grade reviews coming in at the minute (I had three change this weekend and I'm waiting on more) so the results are not currently final.

PaperDoves · 17/09/2023 13:10

That's really interesting @GrammarTeacher, I had no idea reviews would still be in process.

AQA are taking ages this time. Ones we put in on results day came back a week ago Friday. As a result of those we sent more back.

If a child is academic the school results are detrimental. And the fact that the OP is asking about it indicates that she has a bright child.
