My child listens well in school and tried her best but tests let her down due to retaining the information. She's tried; flash cards, mind maps, large A3 posters with key words/diagrams stuck on the wall (when I walked by each time, I asked her a questions about something), acting words/thinking of funny actions or sayings, we've tried little and often with lots of mini recapping but nothing seems to be helping her to retain it.

What revision tips can you give a teenager please before the exams hit.
I did ask school and they said 'we do help them learn how to revise as we set flash cards and mind maps for homework'so they weren't the best of help.

Does she retain it in the instant?

So e.g. If it is properties of metals can she learn and then say: malleable, ductile, shiny, conduct electricity (or whatever).

Then go onto something else for 5 minutes.

Then go back to properties of metals.

Then the other thing. And something else new. Then back to properties of metals.

Thanks for the reply. She's tried the method of going back over daily and it seems like she gets it, then over night, her brain resets and she forgets again! If I prompt her with a starting letter or action, it all comes back and she remembers but she won't have those prompts on her test.

Hi,

In terms of revision, I'm struggling to motivate my teenage son. He listens at school, but in terms of independent revision he is just not interested. The only resource that I have found has really helped him (with English) is a specific revision guide. His teacher recommended it, and since he's got it, I've seen a real positive improvement. Apparently the book gives a clear structure, all quotes annotated and model exam answers so that he can see where he goes wrong when he does his own. Even his teacher uses it to teach from...

The only problem I have is I can't see any other books for the other texts he's studying. The Macbeth is great. If anyone knows how I can get the others (An inspector Calls, Power and Conflict Poetry and Jekyll & Hyde) that would be greatly appreciated.

I had to order Macbeth from the website (https://moduspublishing.com/books/) but there seems to be no others... It's the best £12 I've spent!

Any help welcome....

Thanks
