GCSE-Worth a review or not?

Looking for some opinions. My dd is in year 10, going into year 11 and took a Religious Studies GCSE this year, which is the norm for her school. She did really well and got a grade 7. However, she's 3 marks away from an 8 and 7 marks away from a 6. Is it worth a marking review? She wants to do RS for A level eventually. I'm thinking it's probably not worth it as she's done very well either way, but she's keen to have it reviewed.

I would say with those marks, no.
However you can request to see the papers and go through and see if you can (or a teacher) see if there might be a chance, or the marks were added up wrong etc.

It doesn't get a whole remark, simply a check that they think the marks were within a bound of feasibleness.

But also you need to gain 3 marks to go up, but if you lose 6 marks you will go down. That means you're approximately twice as likely to go up as down (in very basic terms) so I wouldn't think it is worth the risk unless you can see a clear error on the paper.

Unless a question is out of tolerance, the mark won't change. It doesn't matter if it could feasibly be worth a couple of more marks, if the one given is a fair judgement. The marking would have to be very wrong to tip into the next boundary, not just slightly low.

I think with how things have changed (review not remark) it’s probably not worth it. On the past we would often have pupils go up a mark or two, but now marks are very rarely changed. She’ll be able to do A level with a 7 so nothing to worry about there.

Really helpful answers thank you all. Confirms what I thought. We won't go for a review and celebrate her grade 7!
