Hi. My dd is 13 and just about to start year 9. She is at an all girls private school and is struggling. Her behaviour isn’t great and she is not focussing which is showing in her academics. We are hoping to start medication soon but I feel the school have had enough of her. When I say bad behaviour it has got worse since diagnosis as she doesn’t feel the need to mask and is more disruptive and less focussed. She is not malicious though and I would say she is more annoying than bad. She is sporty and musical. She is very sociable and a people person so a small school may not work for her.

anyway, we are thinking a new start for GCSE might be good - perhaps Co-Ed is a better option for instance. We are happy with private or state, day or boarding. It’s really about trying to find the right environment for her to reach her potential and enjoy her childhood.

we are based in north London but are able to move anywhere within commuting distance of the centre

ive seen some lovely schools suggested for boys but struggling to find anything for girls

Hello, I'm not sure I can be of much help but our dd has recently been diagnosed with adhd. She is starting at Harrodian in September (Y7) and I'm really hoping that it's going to work out for her but I am really worried generally about how she'll cope with the transition to secondary. She loves drama and also sport and I know that they really excel in drama and their SEN department seemed great.

I also like that it's co-ed. How does your dd find her girl friendships? This is an area that our dd is really struggling with at the moment which is why we wanted co-ed.

Also have a look at Radnor House, soon to be Kneller Hall. I think also Claremont Fan are good with SEN. All co-ed.

Thanks! She’s very social - finds the politics a bit much sometimes but no worries on that side.

thanks for the tips - I will look them up! And good luck to your dd
