11+ / Non-Selective / King's House School Richmond

I have a non-academic and sporty boy and he is likely to not succeed in 11+ route. Therefore, I am considering either going to non-selective route (Radnor, Hampton Court in Year 6) or King's House School Richmond which goes up until Year 8 for 13+ route.

Any thoughts? Any input on Radnor, Hampton Court, King's House School Richmond ?

King’s House up to Y8 won’t really help you. Most of the boys will have a school setup for Y9 and you won’t, which will be stressful.

I would go for one that has a full secondary, so either Radnor or Fulham Prep.

For entry into Radnor/Kneller from Radnor Prep my understanding is that it’s possible to avoid sitting the 11+ but you still need to be of the required standard for the senior school in order to be given priority entry. Standards are definitely rising at Radnor House and harder to get into at 11+.

What about Kew House?

Morning @kyunak

I have three DS all very different all go to different SW London Schools.

My youngest is still at Twickenham Prep - which is excellent :)

My middle DS is at Radnor - it is just right for him, sporty and friendly. Their sports facilities onsite aren't great, but they do a lot off site and the move to Kneller, when that happens, will fix that. They have fixtures every week, lots of Clubs and Mr Jones their Head of Sport is superb. My DS is severely Dyslexic and there is no way he would have passed the 11+. It does sound like this would be a good fit for your son too.

My oldest is at HCH, which is perfect for him - as he is into Maths, Music and French. Its far more academically rigorous than Radnor and selective at entry. While the sports are good at HCH, they use St Mary's university facilities and Molesey Boat Club both are great and they also have lots of clubs, it doesn't sound like the academic fit would right for your son.

Hope this is helpful.......Good luck :)
