Please share pros and cons for both schools.

DD sitting 11+ this year. She is academic as well as sporty. Any comments from present or past parents of the two schools gratefully received!

i think you meant Tunbridge Wells Girls' Grammar School or Tonbridge Grammar School. TGS can also refer to Tiffin Girl's School

Thank you! Yes, I wasn't aware of that.

I would be very grateful if anyone can share any insights. We live closer to TWGGS but she would be happy to commute to either, if she gets high enough score for TGS.

I have one at TGS. It’s a great school but I would only choose it if your daughter has a strong preference. If we lived in walking distance to TWGGS I would definitely have nudged my daughter there. We live closer to TGS.

The schools have noticeably different feels so it’s likely you and your daughter will know after your tours which one suits her and you.

TGS. The IB curriculum is modern and refreshing but definitely an acquired taste. Instead of food tech the girls study 3 languages in year 7 and 8. Girls come from all over West Kent and beyond to attend. This can make meets ups tricky and their social circle narrower because only a smaller group of girls will live locally. Also means she may need to make more effort to have a social life locally outside of school. Strong SEN department. The music department and facilities are great. Has a recently built modern building dedicated to A level. Some sports (e.g., netball) are more supported than others (e.g., tennis).

TWGGS impressions. National curriculum makes it easier to support and find local tutors if necessary. German instead of Latin (TGS) as language on offer. They both have Spanish and French. It’s largely a local village school with a small catchment so their local social network is more widely available and so is the community feel. Girls can easily meet up with most of their friends locally which is so important as they get older. Options and outcomes at GCSE level are very comparable. I don’t know as much about their extra curricular.
