Does anyone know whether 16yr olds in England have to pay for prescriptions, dentist etc in the months between finishing GCSEs and starting A levels? If they are leaving one school and starting a different sixth form does that make a difference?

No as they are still a full time student.

If you are 16, 17 or 18 years old and in full-time education then you are automatically exempt from paying prescription charges. You simply need to tick this exemption category on the rear of the prescription. However, once you become 19 you must pay for your prescriptions even if you remain in full-time education.

Great, do you know when the registration changes between the secondary school and sixth form? Which sixth form they go to will not be known until results day.

Don't worry about it. They are in 'full time education' until end August and then of course they start at college/6th form.

You'll also get a letter quite soon asking for child benefit purposes what they are doing next. You put your best guess and be done with it. Only if they drop out of education would you need to tell the CB people.

Thanks, very low chance of dropping out but will need prescriptions etc over the summer.
