DS is finding German a little bit difficult. He's currently y7, and needs a bit of help at home. He has cgp study book and revision guide, but wondering if there are any apps (not Duolingo), or websites he could try?

Has he looked at BBC Bitesize for explanatory videos? I find them really helpful.
if I were him, I’d ask the teacher what they recommend. I’d be really pleased that he was enthusiastic enough to ask for help and go out of my way to provide support.

What is he struggling with in particular @SweetsAndChocolates ? MFL is my subject. I think the cases and genders can be a bit daunting at first, but it's best sometimes to try to focus on speaking and understanding above the nitty gritty of the grammar, as that will make it more enjoyable and real.

Memorise is a good website, or does the school have a linguascope login, as that's good for basic vocab? I would agree also, worth asking his teacher.

Goethe Institut runs online courses and summer language camps.

I loved the mini course Harry Gefangen in der Zeit on Youtube - well worth watching.

There is also Nico's Weg, which is a bit more aimed at young people/teens but it's more dry and less enjoyable IMO.

I ordered, when my DS1 was that age and learning German, the same textbook I’d used in American high school: Unsere Freunde (book 1). After every chapter, there is a vocabulary list that I would make flash cards from.
It is an EXCELLENT book for understanding German grammar easily and quickly.
It’s old but gold. I spent my early adult years in Germany and I speak the language to this day. You might find it on eBay or World of Books.

Thank you so much everyone.
I was at my wits end trying to help (with zero knowledge Grin).
He has end of topic assessment soon, and was really struggling to revise (continuously rants German is harder than French and Latin). - i say was because after being told he can't be lazy about these things he seems to have managed to do the work Hmm
I do think, it's because he's already decided he won't continue with German (even though he has a while until he can drop it 😂).

The list of resources provided is fab, thank you all (off to check everything out Grin)

+1 for Goethe Institut, with the advantage he can work towards CEFR with their resources.
