My DD is starting at NLCS from Sep 2023. We are planning to move closer to the school. Please recommend the areas where we can look for.

I think this depends how close you want to live and your budget.

Hello, congratulations and welcome. I think, first of all, I would think of whether you would like her to take the school coach, public transport or both (as she gets older) and how long would be the maximum time on bus that you would like her to commute for. That would narrow down areas greatly. Think of her at all ages, not just in year 7, would be my advice.

Also the school coach is quite expensive as it is but, additionally, if she is sporty and ends up in various squads, she will likely finish at 5.15 on many days of the week. The late bus is an extra charge plus, depending on where you live, it makes for a fairly late arrival home.

Thanks for your kind reply. I would like my daughter to take public transport / school shuttle. We are happy to move somewhere closer to the station so it's easy for us to commute to work. Is there any particular postcodes that you would recommend?

The shuttle buses go to Stanmore station (Jubilee line) and Edgware station (Northern line) so I guess any stop on these lines but, of course, there are huge differences in terms of house prices between (for example) Stanmore and St John Wood or Edgware and Hampstead. I would imagine that the cost would be the first question to answer and then go from there (but, of course, St John’s Wood, Highgate and Hampstead are very sought after). Mill Hill is lovely, quite close and can reach NLCS by bus (240) in about 20 mins. Muswell Hill is also lovely but a bit more awkward to reach. Of course I don’t know all bus routes but TfL will answer those questions.

Depends what you are looking for and how close you want to be to town / the school. Anywhere on jubilee or northern line Edgware branch - depends on your budget and what kind of place you are looking for.

Could you go up there at the weekend and stop at a few tubes stops and find out if you like the feel of it. You Will get more space for your money as you move further out - exception being at Hampstead probably.

Hello. We are north london and my daughter takes the minibus. If you would like her to go in by tube, many do, you need to be on the northern / jubilee lines. Lots of children come up from NW1 / NW8 Golders Green etc. Parts of Stanmore are very nice. Congratulations and welcome.
