Trinity Vs Kings Vs Sutton Grammar

Hi all, Would appreciate your input here.

DS2 has qualified for all State grammars here - and we chose Sutton Grammar over Wilsons in our State application .
He has also passed the exams for Trinity Croydon and Kings Wimbledon. We havent been told yet if there is an academic scholarship available in either, he will be interviewing with them over the next few days.
If he gets offered from both , our choices will be Trinity Croydon, Kings Wimbledon and Sutton Grammar.
FYI DS1 goes to Trinity - he loves it there and we like the school , however we like Kings too and so so very confused and would appreciate any input. DS2 likes all schools !

Thank you.

Given your older son is at Trinity and likes it, and DS2 likes it too, I would think it’s a no brainer. Driving in different directions can be a real pain.

if DS1 wasn’t there, I’d go for the grammar. But I do think you need to treat both equally.

Really consider the complications of 2 different schools. Parents evenings, concerts, sports fixtures, drama productions etc especially at busy times like Christmas and end of year can often land at the same time.
Also things like transport strikes etc meaning you may have to do the school run in different directions, or pick up late after matches etc.

Agree that Trinity is a great school. I had one of each which meant we had to go to a different school for DD, although she swapped for 6th form. Clashing dates was a real pain.

as always, the commute is such a big factor too.

Does anyone know what the 'pass' standardised score is approximately for Sutton Grammar? I'm totally new to this process and can't seem to find any indication apart from one in 2012.

Hey Vaishu, firstly many congratulations on such great achievements for both your kids! We are fairly early in the process and selecting primary schools at the moment. It would be really helpful if you could address two questions;

(1) What is your view of Grammar schools accessible from Orpington area. We are torn between Sutton and Orpington.
(2) Do typically kids manage to get scholarships in schools like Trinity and Kings? Are they also available at 7+ or only 11+

Thank you so much

Trinity doesn't start until Y6 so 7+ is irrelevant there. Mist start at 11+, with a smaller 10+ intake
They do offer scholarships, which can be combined to include academic and eg sport or music.
I think these days they give more by way of bursaries though.
