Just that really. What are your DC GCSE targets or minimum grades expected for english and maths and what was their ks2 sats scaled scores?

Dd is predicted 9 for maths. I think she got full marks on her maths SAT. She's predicted an 8 for English and I think she got 135 on her SAT.

DD got 100 & 97 for English, and 96 for maths. In secondary she was predicted 2/3 then 3/4 for English and 4/5 for maths.
Then the pandemic came and screwed it all up anyway.

Past I think 120 is the top mark you can get for KS2 SATs, maybe you are confusing with CATs.

Pretty sure 120 is the top mark for KS2 SATS.

DD is predicted 8 in English and 9 in Maths, having got 108 in English and 112 in Maths.

My child's school don't d predictions from SATs as its private. But I looked at the 'flight paths' from our local secondary and he would be predicted 8's off his scores of 118 for Reading ,120 for SPAG and 118 for maths. They don't predict 9s.

noblegiraffe · 15/01/2023 16:54

Why are you asking, OP?

There is no national data available mapping what scaled score kids got in their SATs to GCSE grade so anything a school puts out will be just them licking their finger and sticking it in the air.

113-115 would have got you a target of 7 and 116-120 a target of 8.

This rings true for mine. Dt1 got 118 for maths and English is predicted 8s.
Dt2 got 115 for English and 118 for maths and predicted all 7s. Our school do not predict 9s but dt1 was told at parents evening by a few teachers they want them to sim for 9s.
However things can change radically between y6 and y11 so it shouldn't be focused too heavily on. Dc1 got low Sat's results (has a combination of learning disabilities and physical health issues which reduced attendance). Dropped way below flight path for several years but ended up above predicted getting 4/5/6s in all subjects. This was because the right interventions were put in place.

If your child’s school uses FFT data to predict grades, then it isn’t as simple as scaled scores = GCSEs. FFT data takes into account post code, gender, area progress etc. Your child’s school will also decide on whether or not they want to set targets based on average progress, high or very high progress levels.

noblegiraffe · 15/01/2023 17:25

I don’t think FFT do take context into account anymore because progress 8 doesn’t.
