Alleyns 11+ for Sept 2023 entry

Hi, my DC sat the Alleyns 11+ yesterday and seemed to think it went 'okay'. How did others find it? They really liked the snack during the refreshment break. :) There were A LOT of children there. Does anyone know how many applied this year?

My DD is also on the waiting list and it is really unnerving that there is no information which place jn the waiting list we are on, how long the list is etc. so that parents can have an idea of the likelihood of any chance even if there is movement..I also heard a rumor that Jane Lunnon (the current head) was about to move on, has anyone heard anything about that, especially parents of current students?

Where does this Jane Lunnon leaving rumour come from as that would impact our decision to be honest?

I'm a current parent and I haven't heard that. There is of course an extraordinary amount of movement at the moment amongst private school heads but she certainly wouldn't be leaving for this September as that wouldn't be possible at this point in the year. I wouldn't believe this @Jujubegreenwich and @Lanast

Yes it would impact our decision too and tht is why I asked..hopefully it is just a rumour..

Of course it would be possible - I looked into the history of Christian Hicks' departure from Charter ND. He resigned from the trust on 31 Aug and the school community were notified the first week of school in Sept.

@ghislaine most heads who leave are leaving for another job and they usually start new positions in September. For head teachers these decisions are typically announced well in advance so the school has time to recruit a new head teacher. I’m sure there are exceptions , particularly if someone isn’t going to a new role or needs to resign for personal reasons though.

However, if the head had resigned, the governing body wouldn’t keep it a secret and the plans for how to manage the transition would be announced to the parents. None of that had happened so again I think you can ignore this ‘rumour’

No news yet on the waiting list, I was wondering whether to give tgem a call on Thursday morning and insist that they share information on the place of my DD on the waiting list?

I don’t think you can ‘insist’ if they’ve refused and trying to do so will probably do more harm than good….

We received an email.saying there is no change. They said too many people have not responded on the offers. Has anyone heard any different? Start to think nothing will change by the end of the week.

They did email all undecided offer holders at the end of last week asking them to at least give an indication, so that chimes with the view above about too many offer holders being undecided. We’ve only decided this evening post state school offers and I suspect many others will be in the same position. We will be emailing them first thing tomorrow and I suspect many others will do likewise.

No luck for us either..I guess they over-offered and were able to fill all spaces in one go?
