Does anyone have any feedback on recent experiences at QAS? DD has been offered a scholarship for 11+ entry in 2023 and we don’t know anyone at the school - most of her class will be going to The Abbey (which remains a possibility for DD) but she loves QAS so we’re seriously considering it.

For context DD is extremely bright but is not the type of child that will do well in an Uber competitive cutthroat environment, although she needs people to compete against in order to do her best work. Slightly worried that she’ll struggle at the Abbey for that reason, but she’s not remotely sporty and therefore I’m worried QAS won’t work for her either.

How would QAS suit a very bright but slightly sensitive, non-sporty child?

Thanks for any help/advice!

I don't have a daughter there but we considered it for boarding and I would definitely say it's considered NOT cut throat at all. Very much a nice nurturing place. Sounds like it might be just the ticket for your daughter. I assume you are looking at a day place? I wouldn't do boarding there as there are so many day pupils.

We are indeed looking at a day place.

And we really like QAS - we just don't know as much about it as some of the other options we're looking at as we don't know anybody there so can't talk to people with direct experience.

DD really liked it though, so we're tempted to accept the schol.

It has an excellent reputation as being a very nurturing school without being too hot house. Plus the red capes are pretty cool.

I’ve heard really good things about that school. My colleague has his daughter there and he said she loves it

My DDs there and very happy. Can't recommend it enough both academically and pastorally. Lots of academic challenge, but not a stressful environment at all. Lots of girls there aren't sporty, although many of them are! The school is also strong in drama, dance, art and music as well as sport. The opportunities offered seem endless. You are welcome to DM me.
