Appeals - would this be a case we could make?

DD passed the 11+ and her preferred school we have about a 70% chance of getting into.

But in case we don't (as we are the lowest priority admissions category and are out of catchment) I've been trying to figure out what we could put in our appeal.

The school she wants to go to teaches Latin and has an Ancient Greek society and a society based around the Greek Philosophers. It also offers Ancient History for GCSE as well as regular History. DD is passionate about Ancient Greece, and the Ancient World in general, and is trying to teach herself Latin and Greek at home. Her school reports back up this passion and aptitude and her teachers I'm sure would write a confirmatory statement if needed saying the above as well - and also how keen she is on Ancient History.

I know you appeal based on things the school you want can offer but I always thought that applied more to things like an aptitude for music etc.

Would it be worth putting in an appeal if we don't get in, or would our case not stand a chance?

The only thing you have to lose in an appeal is time and effort. So as long as you’re willing to try, it’s arguably worth it.

In terms of the strength of the argument, much depends on the strength of the school’s argument against taking another pupil. The school may put up a very strong case, or they might not.
