PE kit - football boots??

School says 11yo with autism must wear 'shoes with studs' for PE (football on grass field).

11yo HATES wearing hard shoes. He wears really soft 'barefoot' shoes every day.

Can anyone recommend shoes that might fit the bill?

I think he will hate proper boots, but I'm not sure if those 'turf shoes' are sufficient? I have no idea about these things (he doesn't play football).

I'm sorry but no, astroturf 'prickles' really aren't the same as studded boots for grass.

You'll just have to go to a big store (not my favourite shop, but Sports Direct are probably best for this) and try on lots of pairs and choose the least objectionable. You can get ones where part of the upper is that knitted stuff, and it would be worth giving them a try

DD has major sensory issues and is a nightmare to buy any type of shoes for. We both usually end up crying during a protracted period of going to every shop in town and ordering multiple pairs online (thank goodness for Karna pay later). For football boots we went to Sports Direct and she wouldn't even try any on, it is a well trodden panic location for her. We went to Decathlon and she tried on the cheapest pair in the shop, declared them "fine" and has since said they are her comfiest shoes and she wished all her shoes and trainers fitted the same. Probably a fluke, but I will try and find a link to post.

I think they are
these ones

We went for expensive Nike pull ons. They are called fly-knit boots.

Not cheap at all but DS pulls them on and no need to fuss with laces etc. We've found those the most comfortable.

If it's a muddy field you need Soft Ground boots which are metal studs usually and it's abbreviated to SG at the end of the name of the boots.

FG is Firm Ground which is astroturf.

I should add there are laces on DS's boots but because of the high ankle and stretch he doesn't seem to need to do them up and they stay done up through the games session.

Ah, I must have linked to the wrong ones then as they were definitely for grass. We usually throw money at any shoe based issue now too, was ready to shell out £££ for something to be worn for a term t9 save my shattered nerves, that is why I was so delighted that the bargain choice worked this time.

I have sent 12 pairs of trainers back to Nike this year until we settled on some for out of school that were not too heavy, "don't look like a fish" 🙄😂 and were cool enough, 3 weeks in “my toe is at the end"

A lot of places have banned the ones with metal studs.

Moulded studs are usually fine for most grass pitches. The ones linked above are different to astro boots.
