I don't think you can get size 31 in blazers can you? If he's going to wear a long sleeved shirt and jumper underneath, then I would go with size 32. If he is only going to wear a short sleeved shirt and no jumper, then I would go with size 30.

Can't you book an appointment to have a fitting done? There's also the sleeve length to consider.

Size 31 blazers definitely available - presumably depends on the actual manufacturer / supplier? So if the OP's uniform supplier offers 31 as an option, then they presumably have them to offer. And it may well be the most suitable size.

Tbh, though, I would contact the supplier for more information - width across back at underarm, sleeve length? It's a major outlay for stuff you have no chance of getting even a cursory fitting for. Or do you know any parents of DC in year 7 who can advise you / let you try their DC's blazer on your DS? Does the school have a secondhand uniform facility?

They do offer a 31 .He will just wear a short sleeve shirt and blazer .the school wanted me to order by Friday the 15th online but the school supplier they said they have plenty of stock so not too worry . When I rang the online school wear shop they said not to go more than a couple of inches . It’s hard to tell whether they will have a growth spurt .

DS started in a 30” in yr7 and was 40” by yr11. I bought a 37” in yr9 and he managed to squeeze into for most of yr11. We were in lockdown for most of his yr10 and yr11 and he did burst out of it a couple of time aka Incredible Hulk style. But since they only did two terms during this time we raked it out.
The problem with boys is that un yr7 they get quite chunky ready for a growth spurt and when they go through the growth spurt they can jump several sizes in a matter of weeks. DS’s looked like a bolero at the end of yr7 despite drowning him at the beginning.
School blazers do come in a variety of fits. If he is tall go for longer length one which have longer arms.
One thing you are guaranteed of is that they will grow into it rapidly.
DS wears suits for 6th form. I was hoping to get away with just a couple but already he has expanded chestwise and is another inch taller. He is also weight gaining for rugby so I am not going to bother buying new suites until September.

Another tip-
when you get the blazer reinforce the stitching on the buttons. They have a habit of pulling them off during the first week.
Look out for special offers in the suppliers website. Sometimes they give discount out of season when you can save money buying the next size up.
A lot of schools do second hand sales where you can pick up a bargain.
DS school run a uniform Facebook site for second had uniform.

DS measured 28 and got a 31. Uniform shop put him in a 30 but I wanted a bit more growth room. You can't go too big because the sleeves get too long. His rugby shirt and PE vest were a 34. His sixth form suit is a 38 with 32/33 trousers (with a belt), hoping it will last as he hasn't finished growing!

Depends when they have a growth spurt. DS's year 7 one lasted him until lockdown one in year 9. He started his growth spurt at 14. Then his year 10 one was getting small early in year 11 but he made do until the end.
