KS3 data

My KS3 DD is doing a phased return to school following a significant absence due to illness.

Last week she was told to do a test which she missed at the beginning of her absence. She wasn't given advance notice of this so hadn't revised.

The teacher told her it doesn't matter how well, or not, she does in the test. But then why make her do it? What happens to KS3 data and how might it affect my DD?

It just gives them a basis to check to see if she is making progress. It doesn't matter she didn't revise it's just to get a ball park

They all do it as a baseline and I swear they prefer them to not do as well so the school can then show “how much they have added” to the child’s ability/learning by KS4 for ofstead ratings.
My Dd school has been ‘poor rated’ for 5yrs now but it’s the only option, it was rather amusing that her “reading age” suddenly dropped 2-yrs in year7, based on their tests only for it amazingly to increase by 3yrs by year 8 🙄all bollocks.
