What is the problem with the moms in the secondary education threads

Hello, I would love to know the issue with other mums on this platform. I made a thread around a week ago, asking for comparisons between St Albans school and Harrow. Some mums were helpful and kind, but others immediately made comments such as why are you comparing these two schools and why are you obsessed with St Albans. First of all, I was comparing the two schools because we loved them and wanted to compare them. I know one is day and the other is boarding, but I didn’t ask for opinions on that aspect. I asked for opinions on the academics, pastoral, facilities, campus, reputation etc. If we loved those schools the most, then what other choice do I have, other than to compare it!!

Also, how was I obsessed with St Albans. I said we liked both schools and were more inclined towards Harrow. It was my first thread and it got reported and deleted.

This isn’t all mums, it’s some who have nothing better to do than ruining the threads of others. Is this really a good thing to do?

@MrsWonderland What? Well no. The post about St Albans vs Harrow was my first one. I am a little confused because on the st a vs Harrow post, a lot of mums were being rude about an obsessed St Albans mum, is that something linked to it. Could I have a little background information?

Couldn't imagine getting angry with a stranger over their choice of two schools. Some people must be utterly awful humans in RL...

Logicalwannabemother · 05/06/2022 21:30

i don’t want to be nosy but could someone explain more. @cigarettesNalcohol that’s what happened? It’s a bit embarrassing really. Schools aren’t even that important, sounds to me that the person is mentally ill and has anger issues.

Also, if any one has any guidance on st a vs harrow, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hahahahah! This has to be one of the worst attempts ever at pretending not to be the previous poster

Are you OK?

What a strange thread

Why do you care? And you don't sound old enough to be at secondary school yourself yet.

OLP2019 · 06/06/2022 07:00

Only in England have I seen this obsession with schools !!

AnotherNewt · 06/06/2022 07:38

You had started several threads asking the same question. Of course people will notice that, and it's fair to comment on it.

And here you are making another.

Were the comments on the previous threads, from posters who know some/all the schools you were interested in not good enough? Because that's how it feels when we've tried to help on one thread, and then you repost shortly after with the same. We may as well not bother.

Logicalwannabemother · 06/06/2022 07:45

@AnotherNewt you know what keep on speculating. I have done nothing wrong since I came on this forum and still people think I was this weird person from previous threads that I have no knowledge about. Do none of you have anything better to do than accusing random mums on this forum? Honestly, I am not going to even bother with this one…

I don't think you're likely to get many more responses

You are however now well aware that there have been several uncannily similar threads recently, so you can look at those to gather information on these schools if that is what you still seek.

Hi
My son got place in Alleyns for Sixth form.
He also got place in Wilsons Grammar school South London.
Commuting wise both good. Can someone please advise academic wise as both are top notch hence a bit confused.

Any suggestions please on academics.

It’s mums not moms.

Not in Birmingham and many other parts of the UK.

Suggest you start your own thread with schools in the title.
Or as they are apparently both good let your DS decide.

Don't know but as it's only a week before term starts probably a good idea to make your mind up and let someone have the place you don't want!

Xtrawberryvibes · 27/08/2022 14:31

Grammar school decisions are taken only a week before or may be even later. So have to wait until grammar takes decision of taking my child.
But confusion is between two schools selection.

sheepdogdelight · 27/08/2022 14:39

Where does your DS want to go? At this age, I'd suggest he goes where he feels happiest :)
