Tiffin school in Kingston
See elevenplusexams.co.uk for all the uk grammar schools.

St Olaves in Orpington, SE London and the grammars in Bexley (2 co-Ed, one all girls and one all boys). Some in SE London also attend the Dartford, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge grammars. It isn’t unusual for someone in the right location to sit tests for Bexley, Bromley and Kent grammars.

The Elevenplusexams forum has lots about the grammar regions, types of tests etc.

Hi! I’m a single mum who has just got a fantastic job opportunity in London and so I’m relocating to London from India with my 2 children in August 2022. I realise now belatedly that I have missed every deadline for all State schools but does anyone know if I a State school will accept my children if I apply so late?

Yes.
where are you moving too
how old are the children too?
once you have an address theLA have to find you a school place

FromIndia · 01/06/2022 18:48

My children are 13YO girl and 11YO boy. I just saw the state school thread which says basically the borough has to find them a space but it may not be near our home or a school we like or indeed the same school for both of them.

we are flexible regarding area. I have a generous salary package and we live quite frugally so we can afford at least 2 bed in most areas. It’s just hard to figure out which areas have the maximum number of good and outstanding schools so as to increase their chances of going to a good school.

Tiffin school is very good

Indigoo03 · 02/06/2022 06:59

@FromIndia I think you will be "in year" application. I'm not an expert though even though the council has to find you a state school if the school you desire has space then you can join that one. The challenge for you is that you are outside the normal entry times so popular schools are already full and you have two children. I would find out which ones have space for 2022 and then are you willing to change schools later (though the there is no guarantee of a space at desired school)

Options for boys/coed limited for within M25 and North of river. Seems to be still only latymer and QE boys

And Dame Alice Owen (partially selective). Watford Grammars (also partially selective).

SafelySoftly · 02/06/2022 20:25

You’ve missed all the grammar school entries and the schools have hundreds on the waiting lists. You need to work out where you want to live and go with whatever place they can find.

definitiv · 03/06/2022 08:14

@FromIndia you might be better off starting your own thread rather than using this one. But my recommendation would be to write iff grammar schools for now (because they are least likely to accommodate you at short notice) and move to an area where all the local comprehensives are Ofsted good or outstanding, like Richmond Upon Thames borough.

Most good schools will have waiting lists, but they aren't first-come-first-served lists - they are ordered by the oversubscription criteria in their admissions policies. This is usually by distance from the school gate, but not always, so check admissions policies on school websites carefully. If it is a distance policy, then renting a house as close as possible will put you at or near the top of the list, even in August. Waiting list places do come up in August and September. Many schools have "no shows" at the start of term and it leads to some reshuffling of the waiting lists in the first few weeks.

definitiv · 03/06/2022 10:52

I should have also said that in Richmond Borough you're still in the priority admissions area for Tiffin.
