Manchester and Stockport secondary schools

We've been renting in South Manchester and are now in a position to buy a house. We've seen a couple of houses just over the border in Stockport but can we still apply to Manchester secondaries if our address is in Stockport? Children are currently at a great primary in Manchester, eldest is yr4. We were thinking about Trinity High School for him, as we are Christian, or Parrs Wood. Is there any chance of getting in to those schools from Stockport? I'm not keen on what I've heard of Priestnall but does anyone have any recent experiences? Thanks

I know someone who lives in Heaton Mersey and her kids go to Parrs Wood. Not sure how common this is but now that there's a new high school in Didsbury maybe Parrs Wood has more spaces?

Trinity take from all over as the asmissions criteria are faith based. You need to fill out an application and have a letter from your faith leader. So you would have a chance but not guaranteed.

Look at the admissions criteria for Trinity. I know Christians from Trafford who went there.

Trinity allocates based on a very specific criteria of faith and religious attendance so distance wouldn't exclude you, I know kids travelling from Trafford and Stockport to go there.
Quite a lot of Stockport kids at Parrs Wood and as a previous poster said the opening of Didsbury High had an impact on Parrs Wood numbers (and The Barlow) and to a lesser extent CHS South. Didsbury High especially is taking kids from the West Didsbury side of Palatine Road who previously would have gone to Parrs Wood. Didsbury admission distance is tiny for those without siblings. Well under a mile this year again I think but it does give Stockport residents a few more Manchester options.

Didsbury High pulls from West Didsbury / Withington and immediately adjacent bits of Chorlton.
Parrswood takes kids from around 2 mile radius - Didsbury High didn't impact that much as a lot of the kids that side also used to go to Chorlton High.
So if you live in Stockport but close to Parrswood you'll be fine. It's great being close when there's loads of stuff on after school etc
Trinity has kids from a massive area. Some kids travel from Tameside also. Depends if you like them to be able to walk easily etc. Parrswood is a very good school.

Just checked & Parrswood distance was 2.225 miles this year. Around 2 miles last year too. Measured in a straight line. Tbh I know people very happy with Priestnall too, so you'll have options if you are in that catchment area.

Both my ds's went to Priestnall and then Xaverian and both were happy and did well. Priestnall's big and busy, but ds's thrived there and loved Xaverian even more - it prepared them for Uni, I think, as it has a lovely campus feel to it. So I'd recommend that combo!
