Secondary School allocation - Continuous Interest question

We didn’t get our desired school, got the third one on the list.
We accepted it but we are on the continuing interest for the no.1 school.
Tomorrow is the first round of continuous interest allocation- it runs for 5 days until Friday the 25th of March.
In the email it says successful applications will be notified by email, however does anyone know when this likely would be?
If the round runs 21- 25th March, when will we find out?
On Saturday or another week perhaps?
Also it says that after the 25th we will be able to see what position the child is on the waiting list ( 780 kids applied, only accepted 240)
Thank you

It says this on the website, so I wonder when they would contact us if successful?

Hi

In our authority we offer over the week and the offers are sent as they are made - so you might hear Monday or you might hear later in the week.

The waiting list will be drawn up after all offers have been made.

In effect the LA knows how many pupils have accepted a place and how many have rejected on first allocation. So the school will know how many places can be offered under continuing interest. It could be zero if all pupils accepted or it could be a large number. The places will be offered in order as indicated by the admission criteria and the LA will ask for a quick decision because there might well be pupils who chose to stay with the place originally offered and they will want if at all possible to fill all available places.

@schooladmission thank you, that’s what I thought so I could hear during this whole week if successful..
Does this mean if I won’t hear anything by Saturday this week we were not successful?
The school is popular, almost 800 children applied according to the LA, would you know if the number means children who put it as their first choice or just any choice?

Does your local council have the allocation day statistics on their website OP? Ours has the stats by first choice and then the total number of preferences for the school. Good luck with the waiting list.

Hi - normally the number quoted includes all applications, not just first preferences - the LA should be able to provide a breakdown of 1st, 2nd, 3rd pref etc.

Bluecatsalltheway · 23/03/2022 10:23

@schooladmission they only put total number and how many they took in.

If you ask them the LA will tell you how many applicaions they have received and if you ask they will give you a breakdown of how many were 1st, 2n, 3rd etc.

In reality though it is quite meaningless to know how many have applied from each presence. Knowing how many were offered for each preference may give some indication of how many could receive a higher offer and withdraw or conversely how many named it first and are likely to be holding on to their offer

@schooladmission I probably will withdraw the continuous interest after this weeks round. The next one is in the end of May and she wants some certainty now what school she will go too..

She sort of got used to that idea that she got that no.3 school and most of her classmates got it as well, though they all hate it as the school has not great report in the past and does not look that great in comparison to the no.1 school we were literally left in awe when visiting..

So if we will not hear anything during this week , that mean not success in this round I understand.
