Is “exam paper plus” useful to prepare 11+ (grammar + independents)

We will move to the UK in the coming summer and my son will be in year 6 in Sept. So we need to prepare for 11+ now. We have started with some past papers on school websites, some free trials on Atom, and bought some papers in exampaperplus and Learning Street. We will probably live in Kingston/Sutton/SW area, and so aim at Tiffin, Sutton, Wallington, Wilsons for grammar, and independents in the South and SW London.

However there are so many resources online (free or paid) and the above and other resources I found differ a lot in content as well as difficulties. Would therefore appreciate any advice as to which resources should i pick, and the timeline or strategy I should adopt from now on. Only 6 months to go for grammar.

He is better in Math and weaker in English (as you can imagine, non-native speaker). On Atom ISEB, he averaged about 130 in Math and NVR and about 110 in VR and English. Learning street he found a bit easy. Past papers and exampaperplus: average about 70% for Math and 60% for English comprehension.

What kind of schools could he realistically aim at?

The Learning Street courses are clear that they build gradually and methodically to the level required, with exam-level testing occurring later in the course. That’s why it can feel “easy” early on. If you follow the course you should find that significant progress is achievable in the weaker areas.

Preparation is best done by getting learning secure by repeated and structured practice, before the focus switches to exam-style testing.
