Elevate Education Coaching Feedback

Hi

Our children’s school has recently had access to Elevate Education webinars and we are considering their 1-2-1 coaching.

I can’t locate any reviews online and was wondering if anyone has had any experience of them and found their 1-2-1 coaching helpful?

DS & DD year 9 & 11.

Thanks for taking time to reply Smile

P.s. New poster to Mumsnet. Originally put in the tutor thread but suspect it’s more suited here…!

It sounded very good when they talk about it but the price was unaffordable for us. It was crazy expensive!

Thanks for your response MiniDaffodils. It is incredibly expensive so we’re keen to make sure it’s worth the investment…!

How much is it Op? Might subject-specific tutors be more cost-effective?

Noan321 · 11/03/2022 15:08

Hi Clary

Around £1,500 for 8 sessions. It’s for general study and exam skills coaching rather than specific subject content, so was unsure if this area could be fulfilled by a tutor..?

Thoughts welcomed!

Thanks

You don't say how long a session is but since that's almost £200 I am thinking 3-4 hours.

I personally don't think it would be productive to teach general exam skills for (say) 24 hours (8 x 3hr sessions). IME it's more useful to look at specific subjects and how to do well in those exams (esp for yr11 at this stage). If a student is struggling in eng lang for example then there are very specific ways to support. I could tell a student in detail what they needed to to to get a better grade in the exam in my specialism. A general session would not tech that. I'm interested tho - what do they say they cover and work on? (Nosey)

I hadn’t really broken it down in hourly costings but I think each session is around 1.5 hours. DS had an initial assessment. Recommendations were for support with enhancing dynamic reading techniques, effective note taking, memory techniques, time management skills and exam preparation tips and techniques. DD is doing well anyway so just looking for DS given stage he’s at school wise..

I would never spend that sort of money. I am sure these memory techniques etc can all be found by a bit of youtube research!

Noan321 · 11/03/2022 22:06

Maybe you’re right or perhaps we need to speak with a tutor locally to see if these areas can be supported at a more reasonable cost. Thanks

Yep someone saw you coming there. £120 an hour to teach how to take notes effectively Hmm

lanalon · 08/04/2023 23:36

@Noan321 it has been a while since you’ve posted. Did you hire them in the end? Were they good? It is very odd indeed that they do not have google reviews. Thank you

TheWonderfulThingAboutTiggers · 08/04/2023 23:38

Wow that;s crazy money. I am a teacher and could teach all that and wouldn't charge anywhere near that amount (I'm not actually offering!! Just pointing out its a bit nuts.)

Noan321 · 09/04/2023 08:49

Hi, I didn’t in the end. Couldn’t get over the cost and DS was yr 11. I agree - the lack of reviews generally is perplexing. They have started delivering sessions to DD’s school and seem pretty good - but I can’t comment on one-2-ones.
