Tiffin girls vs Inde (with bursary)

We are very lucky to get a part bursary from a independent school near home. DD visited a few times and absolutely loves it. Then she got offer from Tiffin girls, thrilled! We were NOT expecting this offer due to the distance from the school. We put it on the top of CAF form as no good comp nearby and we thought our best bet was to go private.

Now we are debating which school DD is going to. But DH doesn't fee financially secured as school will review the bursary every year. It may go up and down. If there's any surprise for us later, it's not possible to join Tiffin. He doesn't want to turn down Tiffin. But I reckon this is a fantastic opportunity for DD to go private due to this bursary. It will give her some unforgettable experience and she will be happy there. And the school is closer. Both of us agree DD will do well in either school.

Anyone knows how the bursary system work? I don't think we will get a big pay rise or bonus. TBH, we will be lucky if both of us get to keep out jobs. That's also one of DH's concerns.

We had a similar dilemma a few years ago with Tiffin Girls vs private (no bursary) and went with the private. We now have the same dilemma with Tiffin Boys. However, if we were relying on bursary or not feeling financially secure we would have taken Tiffin without a question. The logistics didn't work for us. Can you move to make the journey better? It's an amazing opportunity. Occasional places come up in private schools all the time, you can consider the private option later if things don't work out.

@ExpulsoCorona Thanks for your input. I'm not sure if we could get bursary for occasional places in private school. I know there are more scholarships/bursary available at 6 form.

It sounds like you and DD want the private with bursary.

I would personally go with your gut, I'm assuming the private school has good results that stand up to Tiffin, but if your DD loves the private, then that's hard to ignore.

Approach the school with the confidence you have a place and talk over the bursary situation, as you say how it 'works', throw different scenarios and likely outcomes. You've gone through the financial assessment once , so you know what you'll have to do each year.

Congrats by the way, its a nice dilemma to have.

Thanks. Got a phone call from the inde school this afternoon. The lady on the phone was very nice and patiently answered all my questions. Both of DH & me felt a lot confident about going private.
