My DS Has received reserve offer from City of London Boys school in 11 plus for entry to September 2022.

What is the chance of him getting a firm offer? Any How many offers were given this year and how many are reserved? What has been the tread in previous years? Did anybody on the reserve list offered a firm place in the past? Also, do the places get filled in early before the deadline which is 3rd March this year?

@Letussee I am actually going to unwatch this thread now as no doubt there will be many City mums scrambling to defend the school because their sons had a good experience and therefore it must all be fine then. I just wanted to quickly add that some kids are naturally geeky and love to learn and therefore there is nothing wrong with those more academic schools. I also know of some top league table schools that do have amazing pastoral care, do not have zero tolerance polices (I believe City is the only one) and really do care about the individual. So all is not lost! I think it's about understanding what sort of child you have and where they might thrive best - are they introverted, might a smaller school be better etc etc. Do feel free to DM me if you'd like to.
Goodbye to this thread.

My son is now in his fourth year at CLS. He has loved it since day 1. I dont recognise @MumsyKTs characterisation of the school, it sounds like quite a specific grievance. My son spends 60-90 minutes a night on homework now in year 3. My experience with the teachers has been fantastic. If you have a chance to look at the headmaster's speeches online or at parents presentations, it is abundantly clear that he cares about pupils having a happy experience, and becoming the "best 18 year old versions of themselves" (his words). He also talks about how he loathes exam result tables as a metric to measure the quality of a school. They do get good results as a happy biproduct of being a great learning environment. I cant imagine my son at another school.

@traderbiff im hoping you didn’t actually mean 60-90 mins at year 3?!! That sounds like a lot.
